In yesterday’s post, ‘Crossing Denominational Boundaries‘, I talked about the people I met while painting en plein air at St. Andrew’s Catholic church in Pasadena, CA. Because of the interesting architecture of the church, I return here every couple of years to paint another view. This one is the view of the back of the church, which I painted over 10 years ago.
I wrote a scripture on the left side of the painting which reads; ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths’. Proverbs 3:5,6
I wrote this 10 years ago because no one stopped to talk to me, and thus, I wasn’t able to talk to anyone about Jesus. I do recall a lady walking by, glancing down at the painting, then up at me with a look of discuss and continued walking.
The scriptures should be a self-reminder that God is directing our steps whether it looks like it or not; that is, if we’re acknowledging Him in all our ways. That’s not limited to us acknowledging Him in what we say, but in everything we do; our actions, attitude, behavior…everything. A lifestyle exemplifying Christ is one of the best ways to be led by God.
