Mr. Speed

Further work on The Booklands; a city within a city.

I have been adding new models and buildings to this set for several years. Many of the buildings are modeled after actual architecture I’ve actually painted en plein air. The dark gray auto shop is an adaptation of ‘Helpers for the Homeless and Hungry‘ located on Slauson Ave (lower right inset). in Los Angeles. The light beige building in the background is the Los Angeles Central Library. I’ve done several paintings of it, including one from high above it during a time when I was working on a film in the neighboring high-rise.
