We met before sunrise at a church in Los Angeles to begin our mission to Mexico.
No Room in the Inn
The sponsoring church made advance reservations at Estoro Beach Hotel, a resort hotel in Ensanada. We were approximately 20 missionaries from the inner city of Los Angeles. When we arrived, the inn keepers said there was no room even though the place looked deserted. Jesus said, "They didn't have room for me at the inn either."
After being denied room at a previous hotel, we found lodging at the San Nicolas. We thought how fortunate it was to find rooms for such a large group; until night came and we discovered all our rooms were facing the carnival in the adjoining lot. Ahh, the life of an ambassador for Christ.
Bread of Life Center
A friend says that ministry is spelled; w-o-r-k. That's what we did at the Centro Pan de Vida in Ensanada. The men painted the interior of this missions facility while the ladies prepared meals for the youth in the area.
Extreme poverty blanketed this Indian camp near Ensanada.
When we stopped for gas, I jumped out of the van and did this quick painting.
